Matt Duggan: Muggle Meets Magician

Category:
Date: Wed, 25 July, 2007
Author: Neil Fairbrother

Never mind Hogwarts and Defence Against the Dark Arts, this video podcast is real magic! When Matt was given Paul Daniels Magic Set as an 8 year old, no one knew what would happen - but one of the oldest tricks in the world was one of the earliest tricks, or effects, that Matt learned. Dating back some 4000 years at least, the classic cup and ball effect was first performed by Dedi to such folk as the Pharaoh Cheops, making Dedi the earliest known magician.

Matt takes us through the dark art of the magician, describes the philosophy and skills needed to be a 21st century magician and explains why it's easier to fool adults than children. In addition we visit the team at IDF Sheet Metal Fabricators in Chesham during their lunch break and confound, confuse and otherwise spellbind them during their lunch break with some close up magic effects. And he doesn't use a wand.
